Executive Board

Following are the Executive Board Positions Descriptions:

President

The President shall preside at all meetings of the School and the Board of Directors and shall chair all meetings.  She may sign, with the Recording Secretary or any other proper officer of the School authorized by the Board of Directors, any deeds, mortgages, contracts, government documents including tax forms, or other instruments which the Board of Directors has authorized to be executed, except in cases where the signing and execution thereof shall be expressly delegated by the Board of Directors or by these By-Laws or by statute to some other officer or agent of the School.  The President, along with another Executive Board member, shall be responsible for the evaluation of the Executive Director’s performance.  The President shall perform all duties incident to the office of the President, including the organization of any and all enrichment programs for the benefit of the Board which the Board of Directors may authorize from time to time.  She shall also serve as liaison between the Board of Directors and any Advisory Council to the School.  The President shall chair the Sub-Financial and Grievance Committees.

Vice President of Operations & Administration

The Vice President of Operations & Administration shall perform all duties as stated in the job description.  The Vice President of Operations & Administration shall be responsible for overseeing all policy and procedural matters related to enrollment.  She shall perform such other administrative duties as the President or Board of Directors may request.  Lastly, the Vice President of Operations & Administration shall work with the Executive Director and President in contract negotiations and the yearly signing of staff.

Vice President of Ways & Means

The Vice President of Ways and Means shall perform all duties as stated in the job description.  The Vice President of Ways and Means shall serve as the Board’s agent to oversee all fundraising work of the Board.  The Vice President of Ways and Means shall be responsible for the coordination of the Ravinia Nursery School volunteer pool.  Volunteers from Ravinia Nursery School families will be members of the volunteer pool.  The Vice President of Ways and Means shall revisit established Fundraising Chair Budgets with the President and Treasurer and shall communicate all budgets to the proper Fundraising Chair.  She shall oversee the activities of the Fundraising Chairs.

Recording Secretary

The Recording Secretary shall perform all duties as stated in the job description. The Recording Secretary shall keep the minutes of each Board Meeting as well as attendance sheets and meeting calendar.  The Recording Secretary shall see that each Board Member receives a copy of the minutes of each meeting prior to the next scheduled Board Meeting.

Treasurer

The Treasurer shall perform all duties as stated in the job description and incident to this position. The Treasurer shall have charge of and be responsible for all monies of the School for which she shall account to the Board.  The Treasurer shall keep, or cause to be kept, books containing detailed accounts of all monies received or expended by the School.  The Executive Director or hired accountant shall pay any and all bills incurred on behalf of the payroll process.  The Treasurer shall be responsible for collecting and recording all revenues in connection with the operation of the school, including amounts received by reason of tuition, benefits, donations, gifts, and other sources of income.  The Treasurer shall work with the Executive Board in order to operate the School within its budgetary limitations.  The Treasurer shall report on the financial condition of the School at each regular meeting of the Board of Directors, and shall seek authorization from the Board for all extraordinary expenditures not previously authorized by said Board.  She shall submit, on or about March 1 of each calendar year, an annual budget for the School to the Executive Board of Directors.  She shall submit for review to the Executive Board the yearly financial audit and financial returns.
